December Blizzard 2009

It was the BIG ONE! :)
Now that the snow has finally stopped, here are some pictures I took while it was still coming down....

Christmas Blizzard 2009...birds

It has been snowing for over 24 hours as I write this. Right now we have about 21 inches, but it's still steady coming down!
I've been VERY busy with my camera. I must admit this is CRAZY, but beautiful! :)
Here's a few pictures I took of "our" winter birds.

In the beginning of the storm, the wind was HOWLING and the bird feeder was a-swayin'....
Here's a lone cardinal, clinging to a branch in the icy winds....
And this guy is all puffed up, trying to stay warm!....
This is my favorite! :) Isn't he gorgeous??....
The birdies scarfed up every little bit of seed, even on our snowy steps....
Here's a couple very fluffy little guys, braving the cold....

We love our birds, and hope they can survive this ONSLAUGHT! Hang on little birdies!

Fall 2009

We had the most GLORIOUS Autumn this year! Now, as the last leaves are falling, here are some pictures I took in & around our yard & neighborhood, over the past few weeks....

A Visit with the Peanut!

We've been having "the Peanut" (aka our adorable little granddaughter, Elaina) over lots lately :)
Makes us VERY happy. Here are some pictures from a recent visit on a gorgeous Fall day.

Elaina LOVES the outdoors. From the time she arrived, she wanted to go back OUT!! :)
But first, just a little playtime inside.
We love to watch the way she STUDIES everything! Here she is "studying" two of her favorite toys at our house--a Sesame Street light-up thingy, and her very favorite little blue ladybug!....












Okay, okay, little one. We'll go out now!....
Hooray!! We're OUTSIDE! :)
Now for a walk, through the back yard....
and into the woods behind our house....
Wait! What is this??? Oh, Grampa has an AGENDA....here he is showing Elaina her first deer scrape!! Oh boy. As Becky says, "and so it begins"....
Then back into the yard....
And some fun time on the outdoor playset....












Then back inside for a little reading with Gramma, before naptime....
After naptime, here's one of her favorite things at our house--climbing the stairs!!!....











She goes up & down, up & down, up & down.
Yep, she thinks she's big stuff!! :) And her reward? Her buddy Tami, waiting for her at the top!....
After a big, fun day, she decided to fall asleep in the car on the way to Texas Roadhouse. That's okay...Grampa LOVES to hold her!....
